Telling the Family!

We had the ultrasound in our hands on Jan 23 but it rained hard that night so we decided it was best to wait another day.  But Tuesday was bowling and my husband didn't want me telling my family myself so we waiting until Wednesday Jun25th.  We bought frames and made copies of the ultrasound.

First stop was my grandma's house since we wanted to catch her before she went to bed for the night.  As we walked in we could tell she was having a bad day as she went to a funeral earlier in the day.  She said "Tell me some good news" and we said "You're going to be a great grandma!"  She was completely shocked and so happy.  She couldn't wait to tell all her senior friends.  I wasn't sure how my parents were going to react so I asked my grandma "So, do you think mom is going to freak out?"  Her response, "Oh, she is definitely going to freak out."  While we were visiting she was having trouble with her tv so I was fixing the cable box when my mom called her.  It was hard but she kept that secret in but as the tv came back on my grandma says, without thinking, "Oh that worked, it's fixed."  I can clearly hear my mom through the phone ask who she is talking to.  My grandma brushes it off saying she fixed the tv herself, a highly unlikely scenario.

Onto my parents house.  We walk in saying we were in the area and needed a pit stop, not unusual for us.  We mentioned some stuff we brought over and then I hand her the picture frame saying I picked it up thinking she would like it.  Well she freaked out!  No words, mostly noises and she had a death grip on the frame.  My dad sitting in his chair facing her had no clue what was going on and continued watching tv.  Finally my husband took the frame away from her and handed it to my dad.  He yelled out "I'm going to be a grandpa!"  Once my mom finally got her thoughts together she explained that it was such a shock because she never thought we would have kids because of our 'lifestyle.'  Yes, in my 20s I travelled all over on a moments notice but now in my 30s and married my life has slowed down a lot.  She then screamed for my brother and his girlfriend to come up out of the basement to hear the news.  Of course they were happy as well.  My brother is not one for words.  This all was enough excitement for one day.

On Friday, we called up my father in law and said we would be in the area could we stop by.  This was a little more obvious because we rarely see him unless we have some kinda news or it's a holiday.  As soon as we walked in all eyes were on me.  So we cut to the chase and gave them the news.  They were thrilled, especially my sister in law.  This baby was a chance for their name to live on.

Over the weekend we called my mother in law and she asked what color my vitamins were because that would determine the sex of the baby.  (they are blue)  She was so happy to have another grandchild.  This will be number 5.

Now to tell our friends!
